Growing Old

Every twelve months, everyone gets a year older! It creeps up on us unseen. Yet in God’s sight, a thousand years is but a day and a day like a thousand years. He is the Master of time.

Growing old is not a crime or something of which to be ashamed. It isn’t akin to a nasty disease or unpleasant condition. As someone has said, “it takes a lot of work and effort to grow old and I certainly don’t intend to apologise for it!”

Age can bring problems and challenges, such as poor health, the loss of status in the community, and financial concerns. Age also brings benefits: a sense of fulfilment about past achievement; wisdom to advise younger people; the respect and admiration of family members; the ability to put things in perspective. Old people have lived a long time but in God’s sight, they are still children.
